March 29 – The 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health attended the 2nd Annual Vietnam Era Veterans Day celebration today at 1st Summit Arena. The event was hosted by the Veteran Community Initiatives, Inc. (VCI), the Laurel Highlands Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA-364), and the Conemaugh Valley Veterans (CVV). Honored today were two area Vets, Mr. Walter J. McClelland (pictured) and Mr. Jim Ostinowsky. Mr. McClelland, a personal friend of the Center’s very own Michelle George, is active in the region with several veterans’ activities, including providing patriotic music with the Northern Cambria Community Band, and he serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the VVA 364. Mr. Ostinowsky will soon be retiring from the Cambria/Somerset County Career Link, where he has served as a Veterans Representative, helping vets of all eras to find employment. Mr. Ostinowsky has also been a key player in the Veterans Community Dinner at the Salvation Army.
