During National Public Health Week (April 4-10), the Center will be holding a website scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will allow participants to search around our website https://www.1889jeffersoncenter.org/ and learn about the Center and our other initiatives.
The Scavenger Hunt form can be found at https://www.1889jeffersoncenter.org/2022/03/28/participate-in-our-nphw-website-scavenger-hunt/. Individuals who submit their forms will be entered into a drawing to win one of four $20 gift cards to Cambria County restaurants Balance Restaurant or Flood City Café or Somerset County restaurants Coal Miner’s Diner or Kings Family Restaurant. Submissions must be made between April 4 through April 10 to be eligible for the drawing.
National Public Health Week is celebrated the first full week in April every year. It’s a time to recognize public health’s contributions and highlight important issues that will make our communities healthier.
This year’s theme “Public Health is Where You Are” celebrates the fact that where we are physically, mentally and societally, affects our overall health and wellbeing. Community Health Workers (CHWs) understand how critical healthy home environments are to a person’s health. With this knowledge, CHWs meet Community Care HUB participants in their homes for a whole-person approach to better health care.
“We are so fortunate to have six CHWs providing care coordination for individuals in Cambria and Somerset counties,” said executive director of the 1889 Jefferson Center for Population Health Jeannine McMillan. “We’d like to take the opportunity during National Public Health Week to thank these individuals for their tireless efforts in improving the health and lives of our most at-risk populations.”
